Rifle Range Road which runs parallel to Krondorf Road, is in the heart of the Valley Floor and winds its way up the hills to Kaiser Stuhl National Park. The old rifle range is long gone, but the farming land and vineyards that have always been part of the landscape are still there. Because most of Rockford’s Cabernet Sauvignon comes from vineyards adjacent to Rifle Range Road, it seemed the most appropriate name for this wine which has been part of Rockford since the very beginning.

Rockford Wines was established in 1984 when it was founded by Robert O’Callaghan. The winery is a family-owned company using traditional Barossa grape varieties, with some vines dating back to the 1880s. Much of the winery equipment also dates back over 100 years. Arguably one of the leading producers from the Barossa Valley in Australia, Rockford is steeped in history matched by their legendary wines.  Truly iconic in their reputation, terroir driven, family owned, expressive in their vision and above all utterly delicious.

Tasting Notes

"Classic RR. Plum, milk chocolate, a rosy perfume, subtle toasty oak, a smattering of dried herb and roast red capsicum. Medium-bodied, supple and charming, with light grainy tannin, some black olive, and an even finish that carries gentle floral perfume, and a clip of drying tannin and salinity. A good release, albeit a little more rugged and savoury than some of them. Very nice." - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
