Everything you need to know.

You picture the day, you plan the day and you prepare for the day, but when it comes to the all important wedding day, it can be very easy to get lost in the process.

With decades of combined experience, our team of wedding and event specialists have put together the top 10 things they encourage all couples to remember when saying ‘I Do’.

  1. Get a good night’s sleep: While this may technically fall under the ‘night before the wedding’ category, it is such an important aspect that will impact your day. As excited or nervous as you may be, try your best to get a good sleep to be as ready as possible for your big day.
  2. Start the day with something you love: If you’re preparing for an afternoon ceremony, allocate some time in the morning to do something you enjoy. Whether it’s a quick workout or a morning meditation, put aside some you-time before the preparations begin.
  3. Expect the unexpected: No matter how organised you may be ahead of your wedding day, something will pop up. Whether it’s a last minute cancellation, a traffic jam or a playlist mix-up, expect and (try to) embrace the change.
  4. You can’t control the weather: If the forecast is wrong and rain or cold weather looks like it is on the horizon, there is nothing you can do to change it. As long as you have discussed your bad weather back-up plan with your event manager and have chosen a venue with indoor and outdoor options like The Prince, you will still be able to celebrate the day with loved ones.
  5. Pack the essentials: You never know what you might need, so make sure you pack all of those little essentials that will make your day as comfortable as possible. Don’t forget to include bandaids, pain relief, antihistamines, tissues and antiperspirant and leave one of your guests in charge of holding onto the kit.
  6. Give clear instructions: Friends and family will want to help as much as possible on the day. To avoid any confusion and to streamline any questions, give clear instructions the morning of your wedding. Kindly ask your closest guests to take care of certain parts of the day, or let them know that it is under control and they can relax. Avoid the stress and tick off the conversation early in the day.
  7. Remember to eat: It may sound simple but it is often the first thing couples miss when they are stressed on the day. Start your morning with a complete breakfast to give you the fuel you need to get through the day. Squeeze in some lunch and sit down to enjoy dinner at your reception. Not only have you hand selected the menu but you have also paid for it, so make sure to enjoy your meal with your guests.
  8. Escape for a moment alone: Your wedding day is all about celebrating the next chapter with your partner, so make sure to spend some time alone to take it all in. Outside of exchanging vows and taking photos, it can be easy to get caught up celebrating with your guests. During the reception, take a few minutes alone as a couple to watch your guests celebrate and to digest the events of the day.
  9. Dance: Don’t get too caught up playing host on your wedding day that you forget to enjoy the night with your family and friends. Make sure you have some comfortable shoes on standby and dance the night away!
  10. Live in the moment: Soak up every second of your special day – you’re only going to do it once! From the walk down the aisle, to cutting the cake, to dancing with your nearest and dearest, celebrate every single part of your wedding.. It has been months in the making after all!
