It’s a new financial year which means one thing and one thing only, it’s time to have some fun with that sweet tax return cash currently burning a hole in your pocket. Our neighbourhood understands fun better than most. Here are our top five picks for things to do in St Kilda this July.
1. Jimmy Barnes – Flesh and Blood at The Palais Theatre
Thursday 22nd July + Friday 23rd July
His new album is out and Jimmy is hitting the road. After debuting the title track at his great mate Michael Gudinski’s funeral, the Barnes and select members of his family will play The Palais this July to showcase the new music as part of the Australian tour. Aussie rock in one of Melbourne’s most iconic live music venues? Where do we sign up?
2. Vegetarian Can’t Choose Menu
Prince Dining Room
It can be tough to choose from a menu where everything looks good. No probs, our chef has chosen his vego favourites from the Prince Dining Room menu for you. This way you’re guaranteed to leave with satisfied tastebuds and zero risk of food envy. It’s unbelievable value too. $55pp for a very full tum. Don’t forget Locals Night is every Monday evening. We have just added Prahran to the list!
3. Steak Night(s)
Prince Public Bar
The coals are stoked, the grills are sizzling and the steaks have been raised (see what we did there?). Melbourne’s best value steak night is so good we throw it twice a week. Book a spot and slide into an absolutely delicious steak, chips, salad with red wine sauce all for $24. Yum.
4. Icons & Legends: A tribute to the Music of Bon Jovi
Saturday 17th July
You’re Wanted, Dead or Alive, to celebrate the best of Bon Jovi at Prince Bandroom. Stop Livin’ on a Prayer and lay yourself down in a Bed of Roses and the iconic bad’s greatest hits. Huge numbers like Always, It’s My Life and You Give Love a Bad Name… get down there, leather chaps optional.
5. Winter Dip in Port Phillip Bay
Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd May
Yeah you read that correctly, we mean it. It’s time to strip off to your togs and get wet. The benefits of cold water swimming, especially in salt water, are countless. Research shows it gives you a natural high, improves circulation, burns calories, even increases your libido, but perhaps the most important is it boosts your immune system. We need all the immunity support we can get at the moment. Muster all your courage and dive in. See you out there.
