We’re throwing open our doors on north-of-a century worth of history for Open House Melbourne 2019. The Prince Hotel has been a community beacon and home to debaucherous dalliances since 1862. Come and explore our hallowed halls as we open up parts of our building usually kept under royal lock and key.
On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July, Open House guests can take self-guided tours of the new Prince Dining Room and our latest Work in Progress, the Prince Public Bar which is currently under construction.
For the inside word on The Prince’s past and future, Iva Foschia, principal at IF Architecture and chief designer behind our recent refurbishment, is hosting three tours on Saturday morning. As part of the tour, Iva will guide guests through the newly refurbished Prince Dining Room on Level 1, and walk them through the Prince Public Bar, currently under construction on the ground floor.
This is a rare opportunity for St Kilda residents, neighbourhood newbies and longtime fans of The Prince to roam our floors uninhibited, exploring the nooks and crannies of this beautiful example of Art Deco architecture.
Since 2008, Open House Melbourne has facilitated more than 900,000 visits to 934 sites across Melbourne, enabling 229,660 people to explore and celebrate their city.
The Prince is in good company for Open House 2019, with other participating St Kilda properties including the notable All Saints Church, The Espy and RMYS.
Make a day of it and book lunch at Prince Dining Room post tour to experience our restaurant in full swing. Book here to avoid disappointment.
